The double screw extruder machine is developed on the basis of single screw extruder. Because of the good feeding performance, mixing and plasticizing performance, exhaust performance, extrusion stability and other characteristics, it has been widely used in the molding of extruded products.
The structure and the type of the double screw extruder machine.The twin screw extruder is composed of several parts, such as transmission device, feeding device, barrel and screw. The function of each part is similar to the single screw extruder. Its structure is shown in the schematic diagram of the double screw extruder machine. The difference with the single screw extruder lies in the twin screw extruder has two parallel screw placed in the “∞” section of the material sheet.
Twin-screw extruders used for profile extrusion are usually tightly meshed and antirotating, although some co-rotating twin-screw extruders operate at relatively low screw speeds, about 10 r/min. High speed meshing co-rotating twin screw extruders are used for mixing, venting, or as continuous chemical reactors. Maximum screw speeds of these extruders range from 300 to 600r/min. The non-meshing extruder is used for mixing, venting and chemical reaction, and its conveying mechanism is quite different from meshing extruder, which is closer to the conveying mechanism of single screw extruder, although there are essential differences between them.
