ExxonMobil: New Polyvinylene products and solutions to release the soft bag industry China Plastic Sheet Machine

Date:2022-8-08 Author:Sam

At ChinaaPlas 2019, two new high -performance polyethylene for high -quality soft packaging, and recyclable polyethylene single -material composite packaging solutions were launched on Exxonmobil. What are the uniqueness of these two new products? Why is ExMobil launched a composite packaging solution for polyethylene materials? What does this mean for the packaging industry? During ChinaaPlas 2019, Olivier Lorge, Director of Global polyethylene market at Exaplas, and Nicolas Coute, the global polyethylene product and applied technical director, were interviewed by CPRJ and shared their new products and Unique insights in the development trend of the packaging industry. CPRJ: At ChinaaPlas 2019, ExxonMobil released two new high -performance polyethylene products -Edi De ™ 2012 MA and Edid ™ What are the new changes in the two new products? Luo Yiwei: The new Edihd ™ 2012 MA high -performance polyethylene provides excellent sealing and extruded performance for high integrity soft packaging film. It can reduce energy use, reduce unit packaging costs, and reduce waste materials and food waste. For the high -quality coating layer of composite materials, the new Edi De ™ 0015XC high -performance polyethylene can provide excellent thermal seal performance, wider thermal sticking window and good processing performance. On a variety of substrates such as cardboard and paper, aluminum foil, soft film, and polyethylene fabric, it is an ideal choice for beverage boxes, paper cups, laminar pipes, soft packaging, tunnels and brushed coatings. In addition, it has the potential to reduce thinning. CPRJ: What are the current application of these two new products in China? What is the feedback from Chinese customers? Gu Tainian: In fact, these two products were developed based on the feedback of our Chinese customers. When Chinese plastic processors adopt our original plate for extrusion and processing, there are some problems with the extrusion machine. Our global technical experts take their feedback seriously. By cooperating with customers, we commercialize these two new products in a short time. China is promoting technological innovation. This is why we continue to invest in the Shanghai R & D Center. The Shanghai R & D Center was established in 2011 and currently has more than 400 employees. We introduced a 7 -layer stream -delay film production line last year, and this year we introduced another 5 -story commercial film blowing production line. We will continue to use this R & D center to develop new solutions for China and other Asian regions. Food soft packaging applications are one of the key projects of the EME Mobil Shanghai R & D Center; we are looking for different levels of oxygen blocking solutions to help customers gradually eliminate some non -recyclable PA solutions. CPRJ: Exxon Mobil also released a composite packaging solution for polyethylene materials. Why is a polyethylene single material solution? LuoYiwei: As we know, a large number of soft packaging uses different materials such as PET, PA, EVOH or OPP. These materials are difficult to separate one by one and cannot be recycled. The new polyethylene single material composite packaging solution can be recovered in a community with a plastic film recycling plan like a polyethylene film. choose. At present, more and more soft packaging uses a composite packaging solution for polyethylene materials. This time we launched a composite composite packaging solution for polyethylene materials (including Eggi ™ XP, Edidy ™ and Enengbao ™ high -performance polyethylene) will help overcome overcome Traditional composite layer pressure packaging structure is difficult to recover. Polyethylene single material composite packaging solutions provide high gloss, high -definition, and printed and easy -to -process materials for packaging processors. It has sufficient toughness and stiffness, which can keep the packaging shape and look good, and it is easy to attract consumers in supermarket shelves. In Asia, the appearance of the product is very important. People like the cool appearance, and they also like to view their contents through packaging. It is not only suitable for food packaging, but also to toothpaste and shampoo containing PE/PET structures such as PE/PET structures. Polyethylene single -material composite packaging can be recycled after consumer use, which can be used for non -food fields. CPRJ: Speaking of recycling, many brands have announced their 2025 sustainable development plan, the goal is to increase the recycling plastic content in the packaging. Does Exxon Mobil also have a plan to provide regenerative plastic solutions? Luo Yiwei: This depends on the application of packaging. This is very complicated for food packaging. When food and regenerative plastic are in direct contact, we need to consider food safety issues. We have cooperated with brand companies in the field of secondary packaging. For example, we are cooperating with Coca-Cola to develop a contracted film, which will contain 30%-50%regenerative plastic. We also cooperate with plastic processors to increase the recovery content of agricultural film, such as increasing the recovery content in agricultural greenhouses and ground membranes to 50%. But our customers are smarter and creative, and they can always make full use of our products for recycling. For example, a client in New Zealand collects high -density polyethylene (HDPE) bottle, which is made into a trash bin after combining with our Ediid ™ We have never thought that Egger ™ we can have such a application. Customers are using new processing methods to use our products to improve recycling and output. CPRJ: Are all ExxonMobil products produced and imported to China in the United States? Will Sino -US trade frictions affect your business in China? Luo Yiwei: At present, 80%of the ExMobil PE products in the Asian market are produced by our Singapore factory. The plant’s polyethylene production capacity is 1.9 million tons per year. We are planningConstruction of another world -class chemical complex project in Huizhou Bay, Guangdong Province. The United States is not China’s main supply channel.
